MASS INTENTIONS - MISNE NAKANE Su 19 8:30 am ZA NAROD I DOMOVINU UVOD U ČITANJA—INTRODUCTION I Pedeset dana nakon Uskrsa Duh Sveti silazi na apostole. Oni navješćuju evanđelje i svi ih razumiju. To je početak Crkve. Fifty days after Easter the Holy Spirit descends over the Apostles and they announce the Good New that all can understand. The Church begins. II Duh Sveti nam daruje život koji nije po zakonu tijela več nas čini djecom božjom. The Holy Spirit is giver of divine life by which we become God’s children. III Isus predaje svoga Duha apostolima i daje im vlast da otpuštaju grijehe. Jesus shares his Spirit with the apostles and gives them the authority to forgive sins. UZ MISNA ČITANJA Pedesetnica dolazi od grčke riječi pentekost što je pedeset. Dakle, pedeset dana nakon Gospodinova Uskrsnuća. Povezuje se sa židovskim 7x7+1 nakon blagdana Pashe. (v. Br 28,26; Pnz 16,9; 16,16). Broj sedam u biblijskom govoru izražava savršenstvo i dovršenje. Prema tome sedam puta sedam je najviše savršenstvo. Prema drevnim crkvenim piscima iz 3. i 4. stoljeća vrijeme od pedeset označava neodjeljiv vremenski prostor ili trajnost Uskrsa. Ono se zaokružuje sa Sv. Duhom, ili Duhovima, koji je bio obečan i poslan od Gospodina prije i nakon uskrsnuća. Pedesetnica je dakle svetkovina Duha Svetoga. To je rođendan Crkve. Od tada Duh Sveti silazi na nas ljude počevši od BDM i Apostola. Djela Apostolska nam govore da su apostoli puni Duha svetoga govorili tako da su ih svi razumjeli. Mnogi su se dali krstiti te su primili Duha Svetoga. To je znak da je Duh Sveti poslan svima a ne samo Židovima i da Crkva Božju Riječ i spasenje treba donijeti svim ljudima i narodima a nas snagom Božjeg Duha učvrstiti u vjeri i osnažiti da navještamo Božju Radosnu vijest i životom svjedočimo Krista. Dpustimo da duh Božji od nas učini nova stvorenja. Prepustimo se milosnom Djelovanju Duha Svetoga, prihvatimo njegove darove kako bi postali hrabri, zreli i istinski vjernici. |

REFLECTION ON READINGS
Pentecost comes from Greek word and means fifty. Fifty is biblical term for fulfillment of time. It is made of 7 by 7 plus one. Seven is again biblical term for perfect and completion. Seven by seven is therefore supreme perfection for total completion. Day after 49 days means new time. There are fifty days since Passover, or Easter, when the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles. By the Holy Spirit the Apostles were encouraged to preach the Good New to multitude of people who had no problem to understand them. Many got baptized and received the Holy Spirit. It means that the Holy Spirit and salvation is not only for the Jewish, but for all who believe and follow Christ. On Pentecost begins the life of the Church. She is called to bring the Good News to all people and witness the life of Christ. Let the Holy Spirit come to us and enrich us with His holy gifts that we too might be courageous and mature Christians. LOOKING FOR A NEW OFFICE SECRETARY After 10 years our current secretary Nancy Brkic has decided to resign to devote herself to her family. Her last day will be June 28th. We will be looking to fill her position immediately. If you are interested please contact the church office, 213 628 2938. We wish her well in her new endeavors. |
MARYMOUNT SUMMER
Marymount offers enriching opportunities and academic preparation for girls entering grades 6-10 from June 24-July 26.
Mornings focus on strengthening and advancing academic skills and opportunities in visual arts. Afternoons bring various choices in everything from cooking, photography, and fitness to science, creative writing, and Minecraft. Girls will develop the skills necessary to be successful in the coming academic year and experience the joy of discovering new talents. They will have fun and make new friends, all while benefitting from the advantage of a Marymount education during the summer. Marymount is also proud to offer our 2nd annual “A Better Self for a Better World” all-girls leadership conference on Saturday, June 8.
