WELCOME TO ST. ANTHONY'S
CROATIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH |
St. Anthony Croatian Catholic Parish is a community of faith and love, graced with a revered ethnic heritage.
We share our Catholic faith with other parish communities that constitute the larger local Church of Los Angeles. With them we are devoted to a common Church mission, which is to witness the presence of God in our world and to advance the civilization of love.
At the same time, we are a distinct ethnic community. The Croatian Christian heritage is fourteen centuries old. We cherish such a legacy and are indebted to preserve our rich Croatian culture, traditions, customs, values and language for future generations.
In regard to this specific character of our parish community, our primary goal is to enhance efficient interaction of faith and culture. Therefore, we commit ourselves to promoting the cultural adaptation of liturgy. Also, in order to invigorate dynamics of evangelization we are committed to contextualize all pastoral, catechetical, social and cultural activities in the parish. |

DUHOVI “C” — MAY 19, 2013 — PENTECOST |

Pentecost comes from Greek word and means fifty. Fifty is biblical term for fulfillment of time. It is made of 7 by 7 plus one. Seven is again biblical term for perfect and completion. Seven by seven is therefore supreme perfection for total completion. Day after 49 days means new time. There are fifty days since Passover, or Easter, when the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles. By the Holy Spirit the Apostles were encouraged to preach the Good New to multitude of people who had no problem to understand them. Many got baptized and received the Holy Spirit. It means that the Holy Spirit and salvation is not only for the Jewish, but for all who believe and follow Christ. On Pentecost begins the life of the Church. She is called to bring the Good News to all people and witness the life of Christ. Let the Holy Spirit come to us and enrich us with His holy gifts that we too might be courageous and mature Christians.

Many of you have already received the materials for parish picnic. Please, fill the raffle tickets and sent them to the parish office. The picnic will be at Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center, 700 N Sunnyside Ave., Sierra Madre, on Fathers’ Day, June 16th. It will start at 11:00 am with the Mass.

Our Chilren's School Mission Statement is a coherent partnership between our priests, teachers, parents and students.
The objective is to ensure that each student develops a firm foundation of our Croatian heritage, nurtured through a distinctive base of knowledge.
Continuing the accomplishments from last year, we have added an exciting new study program about Croatia, our beautiful homeland, a new dance and music class where students can learn how to play Tamburica and sing in a children's choir.
