WELCOME TO ST. ANTHONY'S CROATIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

St. Anthony Croatian Catholic Parish is a community of faith and love, graced with a revered ethnic heritage.

We share our Catholic faith with other parish communities that constitute the larger local Church of Los Angeles. With them we are devoted to a common Church mission, which is to witness the presence of God in our world and to advance the civilization of love.

At the same time, we are a distinct ethnic community. The Croatian Christian heritage is fourteen centuries old. We cherish such a legacy and are indebted to preserve our rich Croatian culture, traditions, customs, values and language for future generations.

In regard to this specific character of our parish community, our primary goal is to enhance efficient interaction of faith and culture. Therefore, we commit ourselves to promoting the cultural adaptation of liturgy. Also, in order to invigorate dynamics of evangelization we are committed to contextualize all pastoral, catechetical, social and cultural activities in the parish.

THANK YOU FOR THE PICNIC!

Given the fact that it was transferred a week later and in spite of the scorching heat, we are pleased with the attendance.
However, the real reason for the success of the picnic is you, the faithful parishioners and supporters of St. Anthony, who have donated your time and talent and worked tirelessly in various capacities, prior to, during and after the Festival. Our sincere gratitude to each one of you.
In particular, our praise goes out to Nancy Brkić, the parish secretary, and to the dedicated members of the Festival Committee with its chairperson Ferdo Brkić, for mastering so skillfully the completion of this enormous project.  more

PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION

will be taken today at the end of both Masses. The theme for this year’s Collection – Christ Our Hope – echoes that of the Holy Father’s apostolic journey to the United States in April 2008. The theme reflects the message of Pope Benedict XVI’s encyclical Spe Salvi: an invitation for people to encounter Jesus Christ personally. In the encyclical, Pope Benedict said that faith in Christ brings well-founded hope in eternal salvation, the “great hope” that can sustain people through the trials of this world.

Contributions to the Peter’s Pence Collection:

— enable the Holy Father to respond with immediate assistance to those who suffer as a result of war, oppression, disease, and natural disaster.

— provide an opportunity for Catholics to support the Holy Father’s mission – an active expression of Christ’s love for the poor – and stand in solidarity with Catholics worldwide. Please be generous!  more

We thank and urge our dear sponsors and our parishioners to keep supporting this Voice of St. Anthony's and spread the word so it's message can be heard in every Croatian home in our Community.

CHILDREN'S SCHOOL

Our Chilren's School Mission Statement is a coherent partnership between our priests, teachers, parents and students.

The objective is to ensure that each student develops a firm foundation of our Croatian heritage, nurtured through a distinctive base of knowledge.

Continuing the accomplishments from last year, we have added an exciting new study program about Croatia, our beautiful homeland, a new dance and music class where students can learn how to play Tamburica and sing in a children's choir.

July 4, 2008

Dear parents, kids and friends,

Well, another school year has ended and summer is here.

The Croatian Children's School (CCS) is blessed to have a home at the St. Anthony's Church. Our priests Don Mate Bizaca, Don Vlatko Poljicak, and Msgr. Diomartich have guided us with immense support and a foundation for our work. Thank you.

A very important pillar in supporting CCS is Nancy Brkic. Her help and assistance to us has been enormous. I am happy and grateful to have her on board. Thank you Nancy!

This school year was remarkable!

CCS was busy learning and accomplishing new milestones with such spirit.

This year CCS received a new teacher Pablo Sepulveda Rosso. He came quietly to our school and quickly established progress with everybody. His knowledge of Croatian folklore created a stimulating learning environment, which was evident during CCS performances.

Thank you Pablo for your determination and tireless teaching. We all appreciate your energy, expertise and enthusiasm.

CCS is fortunate to have Teta Katica Ban, Silva Brkic and Larry Skertich! This is the team of teachers who inspire and encourage our kids. more

BULLETIN

Posebno priznanje ide pročelniku festivala Ferdi Brkić i župskoj tajnice Nancy Brkić. Oni su se opet pokazali kao uspješni vođe i koordinatori.  više
